How to get involved...
IF YOU ARE A DISTRICT 56 STUDENT:
see
Our School Maker Faire is all about YOU! You can display what you make on your own, in a class, with a club, or in an organization outside of school. If you are making something in a group and you think it should be in the Maker Faire, make sure you tell your teacher or group leader. If you want to contribute something you're making on your own, click on the CALL FOR MAKERS and tell us about it. If you want to contribute something to the Faire but don't know what, then click on STUDENTS to see some ideas. Even if you don't contribute something, you should come and check out all the awesome stuff to see and do there. |
IF YOU ARE DISTRICT 56 STAFF:
You are the experts at organizing our students and encouraging them to create things they will be proud to display for others to see. Therefore, we need your help to provide opportunities for students to create projects for the Faire, as well as to organize hands-on activities that visitors can participate it, even if it's more fun than educational. There may even be funds to support projects that will benefit the students. Staff are also welcome to participate as a maker with your own booth to display what you have created on your own, unrelated to your position in the district. Click on the CALL FOR MAKERS to submit your proposal as a teacher or independent maker.
IF YOU ARE A DISTRICT 56 PARENT:
Our School Maker Faire is BY and FOR the students! We need adults to display the awesome stuff they are doing, and to organize hands-on activities, even if it's more fun than educational. There may even be funds to support projects that will benefit the students. We also want students to create things that they can proudly display at Maker Faire. These things could be created alone, in a class, with a club, or in an organization outside of school. You or your child can click on the CALL FOR MAKERS to submit a proposal, or let a teacher or group leader know if your child is part of a group that is creating something they would like to show off.
IF YOU ARE AN OUTSIDE INDIVIDUAL
OR ORGANIZATION:
Our School Maker Faire is a gathering of fascinating, curious people who enjoy learning and who love sharing what they can do. It’s a venue for makers to show examples of their work and interact with others about it. This makes it the perfect opportunity for local businesses, community organizations, and educational institutions to showcase what they have to offer. Click on the CALL FOR MAKERS to submit a proposal, or see all the opportunities for you on the SPONSORS page.
